London – 2026

London in Summer

Wimbledon is a tentpole event in London for a reason. On a global scale, it gets eyes and accolades every year. However, Wimbledon is but one event in a social calendar that runs from mid-June through mid-July, and the travelers who understand that tend to structure their summers very differently from the ones who do not.

Royal Ascot. Henley Royal Regatta. The Championships. And of course, there are the social events. The best hotel opening in London in years. A Michelin-rated dining room that belongs on the same level as the Dubai original it came from. These are not consolation prizes around Wimbledon. They are the season.

Getting there is its own decision. Transatlantic routing typically calls for a heavy jet or ultra-long-range jet. Search any routing in the Elevate Jet app for confirmed pricing in real time.

Royal Ascot — June 16 to 20

Every June, the British royal family, the country's best flat racehorses, and about 300,000 people descend on a course 40 minutes west of London for five days of racing that has been running since 1711. The sport is serious: Group 1 races, prize money in the millions, horses that will go on to define the flat racing season. The social calendar built around it is equally serious.

The Royal Enclosure is the inner sanctum. Access requires a formal application sponsored by an existing member who has attended for four or more years. The dress code (morning coat and top hat for men, formal daywear and a hat for women )is heavily enforced. The combination of genuine exclusivity and genuine ceremony is what separates Ascot from most other sporting events on the calendar.

The private airport Farnborough sits 25 minutes from the course. Private arrivals there skip the road congestion that builds early on race days and does not clear quickly. For anyone building a week around Ascot, it is the most sensible arrival point.

The Championships — June 29 to July 12

Wimbledon is the oldest tennis tournament in the world and, by most measures, still the most prestigious. The grass courts at the All England Club have been running since 1877. Centre Court holds roughly 15,000 people. The waiting list for a debenture seat has its own secondary market.

The public ballot closed in September 2025. At this point, debenture seats are the path in: five-year ownership of a specific seat on Centre Court or Court One, with access to private debenture lounges and dining before play. They trade on the secondary market at significant premiums during finals week, which is when the inventory moves fastest. Packages start from approximately £2,195 per session.

A few things worth knowing: insiders know it as The Championships, not Wimbledon. Strawberries and cream are £2.50 and have been since the 1990s. Order them.

Henley Royal Regatta — July 1 to 6

Henley Royal Regatta has been running since 1839 on a straight mile-long stretch of the Thames at Henley-on-Thames, 40 miles west of London. The competition is genuine — Olympic and world championship rowers, crews from across Europe and the United States, racing that draws a serious athletic crowd alongside the social one. The Stewards' Enclosure is the correct access level: members and invited guests only, direct waterside views, dress standards that match the occasion. Private riverside suites through hospitality providers accommodate groups of 30 to 300, with Champagne receptions and four-course dining overlooking the course. Packages start from approximately £369 plus VAT per person.

Unlike Ascot and Wimbledon, the crowd at Henley is watching the racing. The course is narrow, the boats are close, and the competition finishes metres from the Enclosure lawn. It is one of the few events on the British summer calendar where the sport is genuinely the center of attention. The overlap with Wimbledon in the first week of July is worth building around if you plan to attend both.

The Social Calendar

The racing and tennis account for the days. The evenings are their own itinerary.

Six Senses London at The Whiteley is the brand's UK debut and the most significant hospitality opening in London in 2026, a restored Art Deco landmark in Bayswater with a members club that operates independently of the hotel. The wellness programming is serious enough to matter during a week running hard from Ascot to Henley. Availability during season weeks is limited.

Tresind Mayfair is the London room from the team behind the Dubai original, which holds three Michelin stars. Modern Indian cuisine at the level Mayfair demands, in a neighborhood that does not forgive restaurants that trade on address alone. Helene Darroze at The Connaught holds three stars in the same postcode and rewards the same lead time.

Farnborough and London City: The Two Airports That Matter

London operates five airports. For the summer season, two are relevant.

Farnborough is the only UK airport dedicated exclusively to business aviation. No commercial traffic. Car meets aircraft side. Ground transfer to Mayfair runs approximately 45 minutes outside peak hours. For Ascot and Wimbledon weeks, it is the standard arrival point and for good reason.

London City sits in the financial district, 25 minutes from Mayfair, and is the most efficient option for European short-hop arrivals. Guests connecting from Paris, Geneva, or Amsterdam will find it the natural choice for light and midsize aircraft.

Transatlantic routing from New York, Miami, Dallas, or Los Angeles typically calls for a heavy jet or ultra-long-range jet. Search any routing in the Elevate Jet app for confirmed pricing in real time.
